Our role was to create a fun, catchy and colorful animation for Unilever’s Lifebuoy together with the for-profit organization  Heroes for Change during the COVID 19 pandemic. This animation was aimed at children ages 8-12 as a fun and memorable way to show them the importance of washing hands frequently, as well as the steps in washing hands.

We were provided with a recorded song that would act as the script. From there we went on to the visual development. We thought it best to have the animation take place in a school since children from different phases of life come together in schools.

With that, we wanted to show the diversity of these children. Children tend to have quite clear body language that tells a lot about their personality traits as well as their age.

We curated visual references that would act as our guides.

Then we moved on to the poses that would define the type of children in the animation just by looking at them.

We settled for

  • Overconfident
  • Timid but clever looking
  • Shy
  • Happy

We then fleshed out our characters

Color schemes were based mainly on Unilever blue, and Lifebuoy red.

Simple but enough to stand out from the backgrounds
